Blockbusting New Novel

London, 15th November 2010 -   An exciting new novel by James Marinero, set in the hotbed of the politically unstable Red Sea in the very near future.

Charles Tobin, a British entrepreneur, has set up a genetic engineering business which has successfully modified extremophiles. These naturally occurring organisms are able to exist in highly hostile chemical environments such as those found at the bottom of the Red Sea where the earth's hot core is spewing out. The genetic mutations which have been engineered enhance their ability to concentrate metals from sea water.

The plot is focused in the Middle East and the considerable political sensitivities of the Red Sea area lead to The Yemen and its ally, The People’s Republic of China, becoming involved. British, Chinese and Yemeni naval and air forces come head-to-head, and the threat of a new Middle East War, threatening international economic stability and World War III.

A British single handed sailor, Steve Baldwin (ex Royal Marines), has been travelling from the Maldive Islands with the aim of sailing up the Red Sea, and through the Suez Canal. At Djibouti, near Bab el Mendab (the Gate of Tears), he becomes involved in the intrigue.

Publication Date 2nd April 2011
